The last week I've been watching the first season of Star Trek Enterprise on DVD and have really enjoyed it . Because of the wacky hours Ch9 put the show on and when they decide to run it and the somewhat bad feedback on the series I never really gave it a chance to check it out. It's a shame the show was cancelled so far it's been a winner for me ....check it out if your inclined for sci fi or something that offers a optimistic view

I'm with you too Beren, I think its a winner too ! (I'm an unabashed Trekie)

YEs, the timeslot killed it IMHO. I've never really watched past the first few episodes because of that. I already own the entire series of New Gen and Voyager, so I'll have to get the lot again for Enterprise too. I can miss DS-9 because I've never taken to it at all.

Yep Stuart,
I'm a Star Trek Enterprise fan! I like the show. I was watching it every night on Pay TV, but they have now started a 'Sci-Fi' channel and moved it to there, and the new Sci-Fi channel costs more to have :mad2:
So I haven't seen it since they moved it a few weeks back!!!!

Hi All,
I found the Star Trek Enterprise dissapointing from every aspect. The writers did not make the effort to come up with genuine firsts for this series. They distorted the traditional timeline where at least the Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager were in most parts true to the original (notable exception Zephren Cochran).
The worst possible choice for Captain is by far Scott Bakula, when you look at the past Captains each has a strength of character that Scott could never attain (his dog has greater presence).
Even worse is having a Vulcan aboard, the biggest oversight to date.
Love the Star Trek universe but dissapointed with the attempt the producers made with Star Trek Enterprise.

The synopsis of the episodes seemed promising....

 Why? To quote Wikipedia.org:
First contact had already been made, so I'm not sure that it's not plausible to have a Vulcan aboard..... and besides... it's Jolene Blalock :)

I liked Enterprise, though it wasn't nearly as good as the other star treks. The captian really needs to be a good actor to make these shows successful.
If you need a dose of really good sci-fi check out Battlestar Gallactica - good acting and the script keeps you guessing.

Jolene Blalock outside Star Trek: http://www.maximonline.com/girls_of_maxim/pictures_and_bio/621/JoleneBlalock.girl?src=wiki
I love Enterprise. Because of the late showing by channel 9 I bought the complete 4 seasons box sets off ebay. Damn things shipped straight from China :mad2: Still watchable DVD episodes in English, but nevertheless it is pirated sub standard quality product

Old Trekker from way back
I supose I had better "come out" too........
I admitt I have every movie and every episode of every series all on DVD, no dubs, all the real thing, and as I sit here typing , I have one playing in the background all the time........
Not a real Trekie, as I would never be seen dead in drag, but I really love the story lines.
I recon most people didn't get that Enterprise is set as the "first" series....even before good old captin Kurk...........
If you didn't watch the very first episode, It takes a fair while to work it all out....a shame.
I believe Enterprise had the potiental to be the best of the lot....
cheers

I must admit that I have been a Trekkie since Kirk & Spock first graced the the airwaves. I always found it a good laugh in Enterprise in the way that no one trusted the transporter and preferred the shuttle.

What you saying we are biased:P

OK, I guess everyone was waiting for me to say something.....
I thought Enterprise had promise, especially by series two, but unfortunately they cut it short. Some of the story lines were interesting and had great potential. Unfortunately we will never know how it would have evolved had it been allowed to run to 9 series like all the other "modern" ones. As for how I would rate them?
STNG first
STV close second, especially when 7of9 was added...:eyepop:
STO third
STE fourth, very close to STO though
DS9 last by quite a long way.
As for the movies? The first movie was very much a let down, just a re-hash of one of the original episodes. Some of them were pretty ordinary, some were quite good.
I still have to pick up the Enterprise from Series 2 onwards plus the movie box set. All of my sets are original, I figure if you truly like a movie or series and would like things like that to continue to be produced, you owe it to the industry to buy the real thing (although STNG was very overpriced at $200 odd per set..but I still bought them). I am not a fan of "bootlegs" for that reason.

I loved DS9 and would rate it equal first place with STNG. DS9 has the longest list of strong characters played by decent actors and a good script. I have a hard time choosing a favorite character - maybe the cardassian Garak.

Here you go Petra http://mario.lapam.mo.it/ds9/gifs/odo.jpg
His appearance would be limited only by your imagination. It's interesting to consider that Odo is still Odo regadless of his outside appearance.

I tried to like Enterprise, I really did. But that awful theme song.... and Scott Bakula??
Totally agree that BSG is awesome. Reminds me a lot of Space: Above and Beyond. Anyone else remember that show? Was made in Australia, and again, its time slot killed it.

First contact had been made and as a genuine trekkie you would know that Spock was the first Vulcan to serve aboard a starfleet vessel. In addition he was also the first vulcan to attend starfleet academy. This had been stated in the original series and the next generation.
In addition the first Enterprise was launched in 2245, from San Francisco yards and its first Captain was Robert April followed by Christopher Pike.
No mention of dodgy bakula's captain or the only good actor in the series 'the dog'.
Cheers

:) Hey great to see some passion about Star Trek, it's interesting to see the differences of opinions each fan has on there own perspective of the Star Trek universe...I think we can all agree Jolene Blalock is one fine looking vulcan :D .....I reckon Scott Bakula is great as Captain Archer plus all the regular cast and the opening theme song and accompanying vision is fantastic, it really pumps me up :P ....i'm off to watch disk 2 of season 2 on DVD you beauty
