Hey there Leon :) (or anyone else with an LX200GPS and wedge)

Now that you have your LX & wedge set up, is it performing well for you? How's the alignment? Have you done a drift align yet? And... how's your GOTO work now?

I've just bought h0ughy's SuperWedge so that I could mount the scope in polar mode on the large field tripod I have rather than the other wedge I have, which is for when I get around to building an observatory.

I set it all up last night and managed a reasonably good p/a, but found that that GOTO was way off - like 2 or 3 degrees off. I'll work on it again before Lostock - hopefully the forecast rain and clouds will blow away before the end of next week. Mine used to be almost perfect in alt-az mode.

Also - English forks in equatorial mode are a tricky thing to slew aren't they? I'm constantly battling the handset's directional arrows to move it all in the direction I want it to go. The German mount I have on the 8" Newt is a piece of cake, to move where I want, in comparison.

Cheers mate!

Hi chris,

Well i hate to tell you mate, but i am still not polar aligned.:D

Its a verrrrryyyyy long story, but to give you an idea of what has caused this i'll keep it brief.

After, with lots of help from members on this site, i found out that i was pointing in the wrong direction to start with, and my angle was out by miles, you probably read about this in one of my posts. :)

Anyway the penny dropped, and i got all of that right, only to find that if i put the scope on the pier in the right direction, i wasn't able to close the observatory door, it actually stuck out by about 400mm. :mad2:

Trust me, you dont want the story of how that happened, anyway the scope is still pearched on the pier in ALt mode, for the time being.

Cheers Leon
