Hi all,

Apart from my obvious gaff with planning can I ask what software people use to create mosaics please? I just used Photoshop CC here and it isn't pretty when seen at full resolution.

(also having trouble inserting the image directly)

Any suggestions please?
Cheers
Geoff

Image Composite Editor (search for Microsoft ICE), its free. PS is crap and always has been. or Hugin, also free, though tricky for newbies.

Registar (https://aurigaimaging.com/) for star alignment then Photoshop's great for blending the seams.

Or PixInsight with GradientMergeMosaic. The stuff that thing can do is remarkable.

To add another one into the mix, I find AutoPano Giga very easy to use BUT it doesn't work with the raw linear data well, they need to be processed.

Geoff,

Looking at your link it appears that you're doing lunar and perhaps planetary work? If so, I'm pretty sure that PixInsight and Registar aren't what you're looking for. They are great for DSOs though...

Cheers,
Rick.

iMerge does a good job on lunar and is really simple to use.

Hi Rick,
yes you are right. I'm using the ZWO 178MM-Cool and am doing mostly planets and the Moon. What would you suggest?
Cheers

AutoPano will deal with moon mosaics perfectly fine as it is actually designed for stitching terrestrial photos. L
As for planets, cannot help there.

I'm a DSO guy so I don't have an opinion, sorry Geoff :)
