Today I have downloaded the Stellarium App ver.0.15.2 onto my Imac which runs OS X El Capitian ver10.11.6 ......... The program crashes when I try to type in the search bar box of Stellarium. Does anyone have ideas on what could be causing this. I have searched past threads and found nothing. Maybe I am not using the program correctly
I am tring to load up the South Celetrial Pole Region so I can become more familiar with the area. When typing CRUX into the search bar the program crashes with the press of the c button for the first letter of crux.
One day I hope to have the knowledge to answer some body else's question but I think that's a while away yet. Thanks in advance
Darryl

Workaround: please enable network access for Stellarium or disable use SIMBAD in Search Tool
Changed in stellarium: milestone: none → 0.16.0 assignee: nobody → Alexander Wolf (alexwolf) importance: Undecided → Medium status: New → Fix Committed

I'll have a go. I'm not sure that it's a good thing to disable SIMBAD. But it seems to work ok for now... maybe when I become a bit more used to the program I will find an issuse with switching SIMBAD off.
SIMBAD as per wikipedia
SIMBAD (the Set of Identifications, Measurements, and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) is an astronomical (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy) database of objects beyond the Solar System (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_System). It is maintained by the Centre de données astronomiques de Strasbourg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centre_de_donn%C3%A9es_astronomique s_de_Strasbourg) (CDS), France (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France).
To Disable there is a box to uncheck. The way to get there ........
1. Open Stellarium
2. Go to left hand side menu and click on "Search window" icon
3. Click "Options"
4. Uncheck SIMBAD
It should now be good to go.

Brilliant! Thanks very much for posting that workaround. I had assumed that it was just a glitch in the Mac port of Stellarium. :)
On my computer, F11 also doesn't work for minimising or going to full screen. No big deal of course, as clicking on the icon in the menu at the bottom of the screen works fine. But it would be interesting to know if there is a combination of keys that does the job. Normally Fn+F11 would work, but not this time.
