Ok... FINALLY got some clear sky, it's been raining up here for weeks which is why you all had to see pictures of churches and pumpkins. :D

I got the 6" out and snapped a few shots last night since this was the first chance I had. Of course, Orion was near the top of the list. I tried an image of Andromeda and the Pleiades, but the Orion pics worked out the best.

Here's one I took with a 50" exposure at ISO800. I did some post-processing in photoshop to cut down the noise.

Orion : Non stacked ~200k (http://www.playeralliance.com/TKStuff/orion.jpg)

Once I got back in I downloaded deepskystacker that some people recommended around here and gave it a shot. I basically threw in the 5 best images I had and was surprised at the result. This is the first time I ever used a stacking program, or for that matter took digital astrophotos at all. Very pleased with the results. As you can see from close in views, the focus was a bit off since there are small donuts instead of pinpoints, but overall not too bad for a first try.

Orion : Stacked ~400k (http://www.playeralliance.com/TKStuff/orionStack.jpg)

Enjoy! Hopefully my skills will improve a bit with more opportunities at a clear sky. :) I hosted the images on my own webspace since I could make em slightly bigger than allowed here. hehe

Hi TK, That is a very nice image for your first attempt, I would be very proud of it. You are definitely on your way

Some of my first attempts were real burnt out fuzzy blobs :D

Looking forward to seeing more

Nice one TK,

I had a little play with you image because I could see the histogram was clipped making it a very dark image...I adjusted the curves and this is what come out.

Hope you like it.

Oooooohhhh... yes! That's a considerable change there. Send me a private message or something and tell me how you knew to do that. :) I'm very much a newbie as far as the post-processing goes.
