Two-part mosaic of the Lobster Nebula

I recorded the data for this two-part mosaic of the Lobster Nebula way back in May 2016. I’m a bit slow finding the enthusiasm to process my data. It is a good time to get on top of the back log of data now that it is nearly always cloudy. Hopefully the image is OK.

Technical details:

NGC 6357 from suburban Sydney, TV NPI 127is at f/4.2, Astronomik 12-nm Ha and OIII filters, QSI683wsg camera.

Nice image Murray but am I missing something , Crab Nebula? Not the lobster nebula

It's a beautiful image. The little "ice palace" in the middle was a give-away that it is the Lobster, but I sat staring at it for perhaps 10 minutes trying to match it up with our M1 Crab Nebula before I twigged.

I stand corrected. Of course the Crab Nebula is the SN Remnant in Taurus. This is an image of the Lobster Nebula.

My brain was hurting trying to resolve that as the Crab nebula, when I saw it.
I thought what telescope is this guy using to delve into the heart of the crab, even though it looked nothing like any image of the crab I had ever seen before,but then again there are lots of images taken today of familiar objects that look nothing like things I have ever seen before. ;)
The NGC number, it really made up my mind.

A very nice rendition. This nebula is one of the least photogenic nebulas and you have presented it in an interesting way.

I would deserve a Nobel Prize if I knew how to produce an image of the Crab Nebula (Messier 1) of this quality using a puny 5 inch refactor. Also, I recall now that I decided that OIII was a waste of effort on this object and decided to concentrate on SII instead (as well as H alpha).

Sorry, I’m not on the ball and am trying to pull myself back into astro-imaging mode again. There are too many clouds here in Sydney at this time of year.
