Hi Guys.
Just wondering, I don't have and don't use an IPad, however my sisters has one and wants me to download some photos from her device and send them to my computer for printing and saving.

How do I go about this please.

Thanks in advance.:)

Leon

Prob easiest is email them from iPad to comp or IPad explorer works good if you can get free copy...DBowie

Thanks Brenton, yes I was told that would be the best option by some one else as well.

iOS indeed has some stupid limitations, e.g. no access to files within app sandboxes and no shared folder.
However to get around this, get the free Documents app (https://itunes.apple.com/app/documents-by-readdle/id364901807?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4).

It can, beside connecting to well known 'cloud' providers, also sync with SSH (SFTP), FTP, SMB (Windows share) and Webdav in the same (wifi) network.

As a bonus is also plays movies and music without the stupid iTunes database and does not require iTunes and can be put into this app's space just like any non-Apple music player. Files stored in that app can be down- and uploaded with Safari and sent / received by the default Mail app, so it also bypasses these limitations.

So when using a Windows computer, just share a folder and connect to it from Documents and upload to (or download from) your computer. The standard iOS Photos folder is also accessible.

When you have a Mac, you can better use SSH (Preferences => Sharing => check Remote Login) which is faster, but SMB ('File sharing' in the same preferences pane) also works.

For me this works flawlessly with my Mac, better than the propietary Apple only syncing tools.

If the photo's were taken on the ipad, or imported from a camera to the ipad, they will be available via Windows Explorer when you plug the iPad in to a computer (providing you accept the "allow access" dialog that shows up when you plug it in).

Failing that, I use dropbox (in the dropbox app you can select photos to upload).

Regards,
Roger.

Ditto, I use both at times, but I also have an istick which is a thumbdrive with both a usb connector (for computer) and a lightning connector (for the ipad) and i also use this at times for some files.

Hmmm
My wife's iPad is an AIR ipad2. This can talk directly to our AIR Brother printer...
Only problem is everything is printed in colour as an image.
