I sold my 26mm series 4000 thinking I would never need it or use it....so now that I have sold my scope I needed to replace it so I decided to surprise the buyer and get a 20mm series 5000 plossl in its place.

First impressions: WOW

Meade has always packaged their eyepieces in a cheap cardboard box wrapped in plastic.....these new eyepiece not only look impresive they are packaged like a Nagler....once you open the solid box it comes in, its presented to you on a black felt moulded insert that looks good enough for expensive Jewelery....I was very impressed.....that plus its adjustable eyeguard makes this eyepiece look very impresive.....

I am not testing this eyepiece...my comments are only visual from out of the box......

But I'm impressed.....wonder how they will rate...I see these being a popular eyepiece.

Is there a reason it's in the buy/sell forum? Are you selling it, or do you want me to move it to Equip forum?

Meade 20mm Plossl $145.00 with 60 degree field of View 5 element.

Prices depends on the focal length...

Sounds very similar to the GSO superview specification wise.
Interesting to see how they compare.

They've upt the FOV from 52 degs in the 4000's to the 60 degs you quoted. Should be a nice series of E/Pcs. Cost is about the same.
Will wait for report, Tony. :D L.
ps. do you still have a 4000 series of similar fl to compare, or did you just have the one?

I am not testing or comparing either of the eyepiece's....My scope is sold and I promised the buyer I would not use the scope or the eyepiece anymore......The 20mm is a replacement for the 26mm series 4000 I sold months ago....

The adjustable eyeguard is great even a better system then Nagler's T4 series.....it's a twist action that revolve's up and down the 1.25 shaft as you twist the eyepiece...very solid feel.
