hi there to all
I have noticed that when I process an image on my laptop and get it looking very good and save it as jpeg and send it to my big desk top and open it it looks crappy and the colour is not the same the same thing when I sent it to my phone its all uneven back ground is there any way I can keep it the same when sending to a different computer .
I have been sending the file via blue tooth file exchange
cheers Pete

Pete,

You've discovered the need for colour management :) It's not a simple subject but the basics are that you should calibrate the screen you process with, process in a colour space that suits the screen and your needs (sRGB is good if you don't have an expensive wide-gamut monitor and mostly want to make images to display on the web) and make sure that your images files are written out including an ICC colour profile. Oh, and you should make sure that you view your images in a program that does colour management and has it turned on.

Here's a little reading to get you started: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/monitor-calibration.htm

Cheers,
Rick.

I always post them to my Pbase account and then inspect them as there are often subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) differences or things shown up that weren't an issue on my computer. Then process the image a tad more to correct and repost until they look good on that site. It sometimes takes several goes.

Greg.

Not an uncommon occurrence Pete, and as mentioned it is all to do with correct colour calibration and profiles, if one wants consistency.

Thanks for all your replies this is some serious stuff that I didn't even realise is it worth whit getting one of those Spyder express calibration units and using it to calibrate the screen not cheap
