Hi All,

I seem to have an issue with the ASI 1600MC-Cool running as an ASCOM camera in Maxim DL5.

I cam successfully connect to the camera when using Sharpcap and turn on the cooler and see it cool down etc. This uses the native driver that is installed and doesnt need the ASCOM plugin to work

When I use Maxim DL however, this program doesnt have a native ASI driver, so I have to use the ASCOM camera support, which was downloaded from the website (I have tried 2 different versions).

When I connect the camera, the Ascom ASI camera (1) allows me to set the ASI-1600MC-Cool as the primary camera and I can connect to it and select the cooler on button, but the TEC display never leaves 0% and the CCD temp is always ambient.

Seems the ASCOM driver wont engage the TEC on the camera, even though the camera works fine in Sharpcap using the native ASI windows 1600MC-Cool driver.....its a good program but I want to be able to use the Pinpoint Astrometry in Maxim, which I can't do easily or seamlessly if I have to capture in something else.

A bit frustrating to say the least.

I am not sure if this would be fixed by upgrading to DL6? Has anyone else successfully used the ASI-1600MC-Cool with Maxim DL??

Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Looks like a false alarm.

I upgraded to Maxim DL6 trial and it works fine in that version.

I assume its a problem with compatibility with DL5 and the latest Ascom drivers.

It would be nice if it works in 5, but if I have to bite the bullet on 6, so be it.

cheers

Chris
