Folks help me sort this out. I have a new ASI1600 camera with a usb3 connectir and cable provided. When it is directly connected to my laptop through, my single usb3 port on the laptop, the camera works great. When i try to connect the camera cable through my mbeat 7 port powered usb3 hub, the camera will not work at all. I have other usb2 connections that i need to hub to the laptop, like my usb2 guide camera cable and my filter wheel cable, which work fine through the mbeat hub. So how can i connect this very picky usb3 camera cable and my 2 x usb2 connections into a single usb3 laptop port and one spare usb2 laptop port?
I should add that i need a longer usb3 cable, or extension, to reach my workstation in the observatory from the scope/camera, 2 metres would do the trick. I don't want to buy something that is not going to work.

Tried all the ports ?

I've got a lowly asi224mc. Its usb3 but i suppose a lot smaller image size than the 1600. It works through a hub i got from mwave, but it would only work through some of the ports.

Which 1600 is it colour/cooled ? Love to see some shots with it !!!

only 3A in total provided by the hub. does this help?

"This is a typical problem happens when user trying to use multiple hard drives that draw too much power from the USB port. The fuse on your motherboard for this USB port (which connect to your hub) will disconnect the port for a while. The adapter for this hub only provide 3A current to the whole 7 ports, so any big hard drive should be using its own power supply to get worked. Remember always keep the adapter connected, and check how much power your drives will draw from the USB port before you use it."

Hmmm...... Interesting! I have the exact same hub and am having a similar problem with my Atik One Camera. I am assuming it is not power related as the camera has it's own power supply.

Exactly my problem, the camera has its own 12V supply. I have it working now by simple direct connnect using the supplied usb3 to my laptop with the mbear relegated to usb2 connections only and as its backward compatible its plugged into the usb2 port on the laptop.i need an active usb3 cable i think.
