Hi all Astro'liano's

Im having dramas with capturing through the QHY5L II cam and its native software EZPlantary software, using Win 8 64, ,

I have Uninstalled the prog and qhy5 driver, powercycle/restart and then downloaded both the current prog & driver - same problems ?

Two issues I'm having are 1) EZPlanet very often freezes, as tonight tried capturing Mars & Saturn, and I have had 6 crashes - I gave up !

Problem 2) None of the 3-4 AVI Video's I managed to capture/record has not even downloaded onto the lappy ?

Last week I has same problems, was recording AVI's on Mars and Saturn, did about 5 runs of 1000 frames each run, on both planets and only ended up with only one AVI Vid of Mars on the lappy, which is the one in the Planet section I posted !

Frustrated :confused2: :screwy:

I can't help with EZCapture, but can I suggest you try FireCapture instead? It works very well with the QHY5L II.

Cheers for that Chris,, Ill give it a go, nothing to lose !

The EZCap for the Qhy10 runs perfectly, only the EZPlanetary with qhy5 is the prob, , I see Firecapture is recommended good with the Qhy5's, so, assume can only be a move forward !
I hope to install FireCapture next day or two  and eventually report back ?

I've been using Firecapture (for the first time) with a QHY5LII this evening for some lunar imaging. Seeing isn't that flash tonight, but Firecapture seems to be working okay for me

Thanx for that input Richard, I have read up some on Fircapture, didnt get time to upload to astrolappy,
Tho capturing/videoing planets last night, I just fired up EZPlanet for a quick quizz to find what 'seeing' was like - and it all worked fine, ran like a swiss watch

Now the only thing I was doing differently was asserting a New name to each video file before running the video capture ? ?

With the 'ol Meade LPI, which assigns a new extension on the file name automatically, had me thinking !
Not sure if this what was causing dilemmas tho ? see how it keeps performing I guess ! !
