I have a nice 12.5mm ortho with illuminated reticle but there is a fair bit of hazing on the inside of the bottom element. I want to take it apart to see if it can be cleaned but I've been unable to unscrew it.
I seem to need some kind of two-pronged device to fit the tiny holes on either side. I tried two small screwdrivers but it felt like they'd break before the ring would unscrew.
Does anyone know what device I need and how to get one?
For everyone's information I have no need for this eyepiece so I'll be selling it in due course. Ideally I'd like to sell it as a clean working model but if not it'll be sold as is. Note that it comes with 4 spare batteries worth about $9 each.

Morton, Goggle up 'pin wrench' for lots of examples of the tool.
you can make your own by drilling 2 holes of the correct diameter and a bit smaller into some flat bar and then inserting the drill bits back to front into the holes,

Hi Morton, a pair of pointed nose pliers stuck into the holes should do the trick; they'll give you plenty of leverage.

And one of these...

Both have worked well for eye pieces and camera lenses.

I have one of these and it's an excellent tool. However, unless you have offset pins for it, I don't think you can get the arms close enough together to fit the tiny retaining ring used on the field lens of an orthoscopic.
I am away at the moment so unfortunately I can't check for you.

I use circlip pliers for those types of screws.
