Hi all, after again a little hiatus from the hobby, I am posting something new on these pages. In fact I have two images, :rofl:one that I uploaded quite a while ago but never reported here a a fresh new one.
The Great Orion Nebula (M42) (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/Nebulae/i-XthbsHP/A)
"THE" classic of the season :shrug:, I had already posted a deep image of this nebula this nebula in the past but I was not entirely happy due to the lack of a good luminance to better highlight the intricate dust networks. Furthermore, the "old" HaRGB was taken before I replaced the optical window of the camera with a new one with better AR coating and was showing a lot of annoying halos around the brightest stars. The 2016 version add luminance and new Ha fits to the original long RGB files. In total more than 21 hours of exposure through 6 filters. Technical details on the page linked, full res view strongly recommended to appreciate the whole shebang in her glory.
A surprising M41 (the Little Beehive) (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/Open-and-Globular-clusters/i-vhHjVqV)
This popular visual target just four degrees south of Sirius is usually not much more than "pretty" in usual CCD images. Much less known to most is that the milky way surrounding M41 is rich of faint HII emission that gives a lot more appeal and color contrast to this area for those who dare deep Ha exposures. 1 hour and half through each RGB filter produced a colorful rendition of the main bright stars of this cluster, including several red giants. The long (6 hours) Ha recorder the faint emission, boosted a bit to the limit during processing to give a strong contrast in a otherwise a bit flat skyscape.. I hope you will enjoy this and perhaps discover something you didn't know about this area. In fact, I found no other images around showing Ha around M41...:question:
