Hi All,
I need some feedback/ideas on a challenge I have with my observatory.
It's on the top of a brick walled Laundry and I want to put up a steel pier to get some of the shake and flex out of the setup (Currently wooded support beams and wooden floor).
I was thinking of laying a steel bearer under the floor from brick to brick (Span of 4m) and bolting to the bricks. I would then cut a hole in the wooded floor and bolt the pier direct to it.
Thinking of using C Section channel of 300mm-ish so it matches the footing on the pier (I don’t have a pier yet and need to have one made or purchase if I can find a reasonably priced one…)
Its for Imaging using AZ-EQ6 with a C9.25 on it.
Any ideas would be great or if you think I’ve had too much Christmas eggnog, happy for the feedback.
Peter

I've decided to change to pouring concrete with reo for the beam and a concrete/reo pier. it should be easier for me to work with and might be a little cheaper in the long run.

6" or 8" pier?
Is there anyone in Sydney already turning plates for piers?

Cheers,
Peter
