The windows laptop I'm using (on an Apple Airport wireless ADSL network) keeps popping up a VERY annoying dialog box to connect to the old dialup account we used to use - is there a way to kill this???? It is driving me up the wall.....
Also - it seems to think its offline (despite the fact it is downloading somthing at 100KB/sec!) - I think this is why it throws the dialog up.....
Any help to a mac zealot begrudgingly using this box would help! :D

Not sure about the mac, but on the Amiga computer which is similar to the Mac just do a search for your old dial up account (it's name) and when the name showes up just delete anything to do with it.

G'Day, Ok but you can still do the same thing as I suggested, just do a search

Hi lee,
Just go to control panel > ( network connections or dialup connections dep on which ver of Windows you have.. > right click on the old dialup connection and click delete..
Make sure you don`t delete the network card connection but...

G'Day, Just thought of another way you can try, go to Control Panel, click on modem and see what shows up. you should should find your old dial up info if you do just delete it.

Hi Lee,

I don’t have an answer, but have a look at the following:

To view your network connections, do this:

Start
My Network Places
View network connections

Do you see your dial up connection here?

When I was last on dial up, I think I also had an e-mail account and an internet connection account that "pointed" to this dial up connection so I deleted those accounts from within Outlook and IE.

Cheers

Dennis

Oh you can remove it to by control panel>internet options>connections> you will see the dialup connections in a list box , just highlight connection and press remove. Below you can set options to never connect to the internet which stops the pop up connection box!!

If it keeps popping up even when you are not connected to the network I would suspect a spyware infection. If not, when it pop up click the Settings button and check the "Never Connect" box, or as has already been suggested delete the dial up connection.
