I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this on.
I recently purchased Pixinsight for processing as it is purely for astrophotography compared to Photoshop but what a complicated process to try to wade through ( i have another phrase to use but it is not printable )
I have been using the tutorials on Harry's astroshed, using his workflow for one shot cameras as well as light vortex astronomy, but i would like to know what a Pixinsight guru could do with my data to give some indication of what i may be able to achieve with it.
Is there a dedicated forum here in Aus ( i think i am the only one in Darwin using it, if not please contact me ).
I am posting 2 images, one done with Pix and one with CS6 for comparison
:help:
Cheers
George

Hi George,
No, there isn't a dedicated PI Forum in Aus though there are many dedicated users here on IIS :) The global forum is a good place to post for help from a wider pool of users: http://pixinsight.com/forum
It does take some effort to get started with PI and some people just never bond with it. However, I bet you didn't just pick up Photoshop in half a day either. Any powerful image processing program is going to require time and effort to master.
if you're willing to make your data available there's probably a few folks here and on the PI Forum that would have a go at it.
Cheers,
Rick.

Just my amateur opinion but I prefer the first done in PI. More nebulosity showing, more colour range, more natural looking IMHO. THe C6 version seems very red dominated, a rather classic look but I'm seeing far more detail and depth in the PI version.

hi George I also prefer the first one as it show more of the faint dust.
if you were after more of the vibrance in colour of the second, I guess you could open it up in photoshop after using the PI routine and easily crank up vibrance?
Cheers
Russ
ps did you apply flats?

Pixinsight is definitely worth the effort and is continually being improved.
If you are after an extra resource James Morse has an excellent cribsheet which I find invaluable. He will send you a copy and keep you updated with newer versions if you email him.

Thanks Rick and Brent, the more i look at them , the more i like the pix version
Thanks Russ, yeah i applied flats, i played a bit with the saturation in curves transformation in pix which boosted it little bit, have to work on masks.
Kim, thanks for the heads up, have sent an email

Hi George,
Echoing others, I also prefer the first version, but both images are good

Yep the first for me, but I'm a PI user so may be biased
