I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the DIY forum......oh well, for those at the point of wanting to make up their own eyepiece case, Mitre 10 currently has (seen at Peakhurst) very suitable looking lockable aluminium cases on sale for $27.
With a block or 2 of foam from Clark Rubber, they would go well I think.

Mine is very similar...sourced from Bunnings and the "Foam Booth"...works a treat!
Ditto - SupaCheap Auto and Clark Rubber......

I got lucky with a pelican case from a camera shop ,it had a big scuff down the side the guy dropped the price enough to make it a great buy
it actually completely cleaned off with a bit of a scrub.

If anyone can tell me where to get the "pluck foam" or "cell foam" as some places call it, I'd like to know. Clark Rubber, of all places, don't sell it or even know where to get it.....

I think you can order it from a place like Camera House or similar.

yeah I think leon is right
I think its a registered product of pelican cases ,but i don't really know about that.. it is pretty handy stuff though , like you pluck out the squares you need to fit .. if the depth isn't right ,lay down the plucked bits underneath
or if you get another eyepiece or such you can reglue them in there .
keep in mind its a centre mold of foam the top and bottom pieces are just your standard foam cell .
take care ns:)

I got the small aluminium framed briefcase from Duck and fitted a 30mm foam insert. I don't like the pluck foam... looks cheap and .... looks cheap.
A sharp exacto blade easily cuts the foam and gives a tailored finish. Borrow a 1 1/4" or 2" wad punch for the eyepiece holes.
Only problem is when you sell the "specials" ; you get left with the memories.
Works very well.

I brought a $10 ZAG organizer 199 storage case with dividers from Bunnings...the EP's are still in their boxes...plus all the other stuff..collimators..etc are held firmly in place with foam which has been stuck on with double-sided tape...I'm thinking of building a new case and make over-sized moulds for the EP's..tools..etc using builders "space invader" filler foam...then glue spongy foam into the mould with liquid nails...with any luck..it'll work!!!
