Hi all, I have a question regarding filter combinations. I have an Astonomik CLS filter which removes light pollution caused by street lights and greatly enhances the viewing of DSO's and it can be used for both visual and CCD astronomy.
I have dicovered that it can screw in very neatly in front of my IR filter and fits quite happily into the whole camera setup. theoretically it should now cut light pollution before it goes through the IR and other filters and onto the chip.
Does this sound practical or not?
I suppose that the best way to find out is to test it against images I have already taken and compare the difference, but I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone with a better understanding in this area.

Cheers :D

it sounds ok to me Ric. I don't have the DSI II Pro with filters but similar to me using the UHC-S filter. makes a difference for me :)
I normally take my images without the standard IR filter. Differences with and without the IR filter i have noticed:
- More details without it
- Unfortunately more boated stars

Hi Eric, I've only had one night so far to test it out and that was the night of the full Moon. It has been cloudy since so I'll hopefully get a chance to take some images in the next few days and have a look at the difference.

thanks for your input
