Hi
I have a Rescue/Repair CD for my previous Win 7 and it seems to boot up Win 10 OK but is there a specific Rescue disk for Win 10? If so could one be recommended?
Cheers Peter

Hi Peter - you have to make your own.

Good news is you put it on a USB stick.
Haven't had to use it in anger, but i tested it and it works like a bewdy

Thanks Sharkbite - I just made a recovery USB stick as you suggested and tested it up to the point of actual recovery. Feel more secure now!
Cheers Peter

If you can get Windows 10 to boot in safe mode or any kind of recovery mode Microsoft introduced two new features in Windows 8 and above, the ability to do a Windows refresh which basically nukes the programs, leaves your personal files intact and tries to get Windows running as new, or the "factory reset" option which nukes everything.
Neither need recovery media and they are a good first step before reaching for the old format + start from scratch disk.

Thanks Chris - I will keep these preliminary steps in mind. Also at the end of each month I clean up the hard drive, save important data and then make a full hard drive image to a separate USB drive. So several ways to recover. Anything it better than completely rebuilding the hard drive. Cheers Peter

Thanks Sharkbite.
As I've upgraded my win 8.1 to win 10 should I follow this same usb process as in the link you posted?
