Getting error 55 file already open

Power got interrupted to my observatory laptop today. Tonight when trying to connect my AP mount musing the Ascom Driver I get this error message 55 file already open cannot create active X component.

On the net there are several computer cleaners that purport to fix active X drivers. Some sound like a scam. I was about to pay for one when I saw they had checked regular renewals which I think is a credit card scam where they take money off your card regularly and are hard to cancel.

Any suggestions?

I had this problem some time ago with ASCOM, from memory it was one of ASCOM's ini files got corrupted. Can't remember what steps I took to remedy the problem but I did get it fixed.
I think MAYBE I deleted the eqascom.ini file and started ascom again and all was fine.
Again, was long ago, so don't take as gospel.

I realise it's a different mount, but could still be similar fix with the AP ascom ini file.

That's great advice Simon.

I now just have to work out where that ini file is. There system files I think so perhaps they are in windows/system32/.
