View Full Version here: : DEC turning wrong way (EQMOD/Stellarium)?

Something has gone wrong with my NEQ6 control using ASCOM/EQMOD/Stellarium (and Stellarium Scope)..
What happens is that when I unpark the mount in EQMOD and then try to slew to a star to the east of the Meridian using Stellarium, the DEC axis goes the wrong way - it turns the scope to the west. RA is fine. What have I done wrong?
The Home position is set correctly, and this was working the last time I fired it up a couple of weeks ago.
ANy ideas?

I am pretty sure that with EQMOD there is a box that can be ticked that allows you to reverse both RA/DEC.

Ok thanks, but why do I need to do that and is this something all Stellarium users have to deal with?

you may have just ticked the box by accident... I cant think of any reason to want to reverse them personally but then for me EQMOD gets opened and then minimized and i never look at it again.

Not sure if applicable, but if the guide cam is not set in squarely, this can sometimes confuse things ?

Nope, Stellarium (or any other planetarium software) uses EQMOD as the mount controller so it all comes down to whether you have accidentally ticked a box on EQMOD.

Hi all..
Im new here.. Ive been looking and doing everything I can find on the net, etc..
I have a new Sywatcher HEQ5 mount with SynScan latest version..
No matter what I do I cant get it to slew..
In stellarium it says scope connected.
The instructions say that you dont need a third party programe to use IE: ascom platform etc. as it will link direct through hand controller.... Im using a rs32 to usb converter.. its talking to computer on COM9.. Vista 32bit
Im using Stellarium MESA as the other version is very blocky...
I did try to use ascom/stellerium scop and it didnt work? Not to sure how to use ascom any ways..
Can somebody/anybody please help.. I have read all the forums on this site, downloaded and tried everything and nothing works..
ALL the posts seem to be earlier versions that need to use ascom platform.
