It may be that Stellarium can do this... but I'm looking for an Android app that will allow me to plan ahead, so that I can look at the sky as it might be at say, 11pm next Wedesday night (supposing it to be clear), and work out what I might be able to see then.
There are certainly masses of astronomical apps, some free, some prohibitively expensive, but I don't want to have to try them all until I find one which suits me.
Thanks!

Sky Portal (free), Stellarium of course, Mobile Observatory ( small fee ).
There are others but most seem to fall below the above 3 for performance and\or have nagware associated with them.
I use Mobile Observatory on the tablet, multiple screens with various functions. It has 'Whats good tonight' screen which lists all available objects with rise\transit and set times plus a sky arc picture. Very useful for planning imaging especially with my restricted sky view.
Celestron Sky Portal is good with Comets and events.
EDIT: I don't know of a free Stellarium install for Android. The one I tried was not released by the Stellarium group and was loaded with rubbish so be careful out there. Mobile Observatory is worth the fee, was only a few $ when I got it, don't know current price but it does what you want for sure. Probably on Google App store.
