Satellite Tracking

Has anybody here got into serious satellite tracking with an EQ mount? Had a look at the Satellite Tracker program and its applications. Interested in hearing from any successful attempts to track the ISS in continuous mode (not leap frog).

is an eq mount even quick enough to track a satellite.. or the iss?

Definitely fast enough to track satellites, I am not 100% sure about ISS as I have never personally seen it move across the sky. Some mounts will definitely be able to do it, others many not.

Last night pass in Sydney lasted for 5min at 88deg, almost through the zenith. A mount slewing can easily keep up with it. Even at centering speed I'd say.

hmmm well if i ever get a night off rain and clouds ill give it a try. why not just for something different.

I don't have time to search for it at the moment but I'm sure Thierry Legault has written about how he does this in detail. I'll see if I can find it when I have a sec.

Yeah I know a lot of people do it already but I'm interested on hearing from IIS satellite trackers. Most of the O/S users have made their own custom thing.
