I have a security camera that appears to have great capabilities in low light.

BUT! it is not a USB connection. I want to use it on my pooter but It has an RCA connection like video cameras etc. I have done a google around ebay and found plenty of USB video capture devices (the ones that transfer the signal from RCA to USB) but I don't understand all the computer gobbledegook.

Some say USB-1.1, some say USB-2. I have the card to make USB-1 into USB-2 but do I need the USB-1 or the USB-2 capture device.

The camera I want to plug in has 2 RCA connectors. 1 Video and 1 Audio.

Can anyone who has done this before reccommennd the correct device.

Here are 2 examples of the different models that confuse me:

This second one has a socket in it that doesn't look like a USB socket to me????

Also, does this device allow me to capture the video in Toucam software, K3ccdtools, Desire etc? or does it just show real time video? I want to capture and stack like I do with the Toucam.

G'Day,
Not sure about all the other stuff Video etc, but as far as USB is concerned go for the USB 2 it's faster, and backward compatible to USB 1
Cheers

Ken I think what you need is a TV/Video capture card for the computer. This has the input sockets at the back for AVI (the red/Yellow/white) and allows you to capture video direct to hard drive. Common brands like Winfast etc.
If it is for the lappy look at this type

Yep, I know that. But what I'm not sure about is do I buy the 1.1 or the 2 as I am converting to 2 anyway thru a PCMCIA card I already have.

Wow Terry, that ones has a lot of cables hanging off it! :scared:
