Why does Backyard EOS freeze up?

Why does Backyard EOS freeze up? I am running it on my MSI Win7 netbook, the only other app running is Metaguide. BYEOS will suddenly freeze and this means I lose camera control. I have to revert to the intervalmetre to control the camera. Any ideas? It drives me nuts.

Check that the EOS utility is not running or trying to run.

I've used the software on 5 different laptops and all work well

You could also update the USB drivers for your motherboard

I do not use B EOS but I had a similar problem on my set-up using APT. The fault, APT would freeze most or nearly all the time. After a while I found the problem.

My set-up was using a small computer which I am still using yet the Guide Camera USB connector was sharing the same powered USB2 hub to the Canon 450D camera. After 10 weeks of trial and error I found that I would connect the guide camera first then the Canon second. The guide camera was trough-putting too much data to allow the Canon to set-up. APT would then crash not recognising the camera.

To fix I would switch on the Canon first before the guide camera as a short fixed. In my set-up this was a permanent fix although I will on my next set-up use different USB ports to use each camera.

See if this is the same problem. I remember a similar issue with my ASUS Netbook but stop using this computer before clearing the problem.

The best possible route to resolve issues like this is to let me know directly on my support forum at www.otelesscope.com. Posting on a general forum does have it merit and you get real feedback from real users... but it is difficult for me to scout the internet for issues when then are not reported directly.

The most common source of freeze are computer related, not software.

1) Make sure you have plenty of diskspace.
2) Make sure your disk is not set to go to sleep after 10 minutes in inactivity; this is the most common cause.
