Finally last night I got a chance to try out my new TV 11mm plossl and after just one nights use I am very impressed with its performance. First, I observed the moon, where it showed the most pleasing view of any eyepiece I own, at a magnification significantly less. The moon was sharp as it crossed the field, meaning I could observe for longer without repositioning. I was surprised at how white the views where, much better than my Orion 6mm edge-on.
On Jupiter the seeing had deteriorated too much to see any difference so I moved on to observing deep sky objects. First up was 3C 273 which appeared fairly easily in the TV but with great difficulty in the others. Then came the sombrero galaxy, where again the TV shone.
Another test of sharpness came while observing saturn. By then, the seeing had become rock-solid and it was stunning, especially barlowed, although did lose out on detail when compared to the edge-on barlowed. For observing saturns moons, the TV had a huge advantage over the edge-on.
I was surprised to see that the eye relief was perfect. The eyepiece was well built and fit perfectly into my pre-existing eyepiece case:)
My only gripe with it was that when combined with the barlow (which was a celestron 2X model), there was vignetting at the outer 2 degrees of the FOV
Overall, it is a fantastic eyepiece and it will be seeing munch use.
The telescope was a 130mm F/5 newtonian and the eyepieces used to compare were a bintel 30mm superview, a celestron 15mm kellner, an orion 6mm edge-on and a celestron 2X barlow.
