Hi
I previously used Windows Outlook Express on XP. I am now installing
features on my Windows 7. I understand that Outlook Express has now been replaced by Windows Live Mail. I have tried this but I find it much inferior
to the old Outlook Express. Any suggestions for an email program for Win 7
(64-bit) similar to Outlook Express or at least better than Live Mail?
Cheers Peter

I had the same situation a while back, and started using "Outlook"-a bit more complicated, but works very well.

Outlook works well, but it is part of the Office Suite I believe and as such is going to cost an arm and a leg unless you can get office via the home user program or are a student.
You can buy Outlook 2013 on it's own for $125.

Mozilla Thunderbird (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/) perhaps?

Hi,
Same problem struck us, and we went to OE Classic freeware. There is a paid version with more features. It looks very like OE did, and will import messages from OE files

a vote for Thunderbird, Win 7Pro Ubuntu 12.04 Ubuntu 14
I also preferred Outlook Express to Live Mail but find Thunderbird as easy to use as Outlook Express and find its extra features useful.

I also use Thunderbird
Win live mail wont allow POP mail servers and I use Bigpond that still uses POP.
I didn't want to use outlook.

while working our users have more problems with outlook than any of the other office suite, terrible program & i would happily pay people not to use it. windows should come up with an apple mail variant -simple easy for the home/light user

Hi,
Have a look at EM Client
http://www.emclient.com/
It's style is very similar to outlook express/outlook. You can import everything from outlook express too, including your contacts (windows address book *.wab file)
For home use it is free - make sure you "get free license" once you've downloaded it as you can enter the key when you install.

I'm an IT tech and have set this up for clients on Win7/Win8 and they're all happy with it.
Hope that helps,
Matt
