Most of whatever time I get in my obsy is plagued by next door's dogs and itinerant mozzies.
I hate the smell of rid...
So, once I had established the eqmod system and Cartes du Ciel I decided to go for remote control.
The biggest problem I found wasn't the distance (70 metres) as I have the cable and crimper for a local network.
The problem was Microsoft. They don't include the software for a LAN.
I tried for two days before I fount that you can't do it with win8.1 home version.
Back to the web.
Came up with teamview which not only connected instantly on wifi (short distance), once I had told it to go on lan, it fed me an ip and a password for each laptop then connected me.
It only took two trips down the garden for corrections before a whole rig run proved the system.
Now I can fire up then relax in my computer room with a coffee while I shuffle round the galaxy.
Thank you teamview for a simple and effective solution that kicks MS into a cocked hat.:thumbsup:

This is quite a good program for cross platform support too. I can see my linux box as well from windows and vice-versa. Extremely useful.

Teamviewer is great, I like to get the scope setup for imaging then watch a movie while keeping an eye on it inside :)

Yeah, Teamviewer is excellent. The built in AV functions, as well as file transfer, etc is hugely useful. I ran LogMeIn for a while until it went paid only; being poor and cheap, it was time to find something else, and Teamviewer easily replaced LMI.

Teamviewer is great. I took this image (http://deepspaceplace.com/show.php?id=ngc2070c) in my backyard while I was in a boring meeting in Hong Kong with my iPhone under the table.
The dual screen support is really good too. I have Maxim on one screen and TheSky on the other. There is a button to toggle between the 2.

Hey, this all sounds great and "do able".

I have started playing with Teamviewer as an easy way to use my home computer on my Ipad. Unfortunately the program crashed as soon as I loaded it on my home computer. I have sent the log files to Teamviewer, they have responded but I havent had the time to try the fix.

What is being discussed here is where I might like to head I feel.

A great read and some awesome pics.

Well done.

Love teamviewer also... Happened to be the only thing I could use that allowed me to see video, such as from a webcam or guide camera, there may be others, but teamviewer was the one that worked first so I stuck with it.

I use Teamviewer for work. It's great.

Microsoft does have a remote access facility called RDP, however it is only available in the Pro versions of desktop versions of Windows or servers.

RDP has a weird habit of clicking buttons in MaxIm DL randomly -- just my experience.

Teamviewer doesn't suffer from the same issue, thankfully.

I'm really enjoying Splashtop. Works on all my platforms: Mac, Win and Android.
