Maxim and RAW files

I'm wondering how MaximDL handles Canon RAW images. I take images with BackyardEOS or the Canon EOS utility because I can't get Maxim to talk to my 40D. But even so, Maxim will display the images and I can plate-solve them. But when I do a plate-solve, the image-scale reported is double the right number. It should be 1.84 as/p but the plate-solver reports it as 3.68 - as if the image were Binned x2. Odd.
