Does anyone know of a program which will control this camera as a guidescope? Grateful any guidance - excuse the pun!

Use the ASCOM driver and most guide software can use it. PHD, MaximDL I know because I've used them both. Only one I can think of that would not work is Metaguide because it needs video instead of stills. Go with OpenPHD (free)

Tony,
If this is an original QHY5 camera, it's recognised by both PHD2 and AstroArtV5.
No issues, no drama
Yep, PHD2. No cost, no fuss - job done.
Then you can get back to worrying about normal astrophotography problems - weather, seeing, PE, tracking, flexure, skyglow, exposure length, processing, more aperture, etc, etc :D

As I recall the QHY5 is basically the same as the original Orion StarShoot Autoguider.

Similar, but I believe the Orion required propriety software to run......
The other way around actually.
Its a re badged QHY-5, that has different firmware in it. Mainly for licensing issues.

Yes, thanks Theo, I meant that - but expressed it badly!
If you install the QHY5 WDM drivers you can use MetaGuide.
