Hello. I have bought Maximdl V6 with Max point and I have downloaded both and entered the key in Maxim and all seems fine. I am running windows 8. My teacher computer. When I open Max point I get this message " Registry area appears locked. Cannot continue. (5, 1). Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Mark

Hi Mark,
I downloaded/purchased Maximdl V6 with MaxPoint a couple of days ago too and have the same issue with MaxPoint. I'm running Windows 7 though.
If I run MaxPoint as admin it comes up with the main form with squashed up controls and no error message. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.
I did find this http://www.sevenforums.com/software/47051-registry-area-appears-locked-cannot-continue-error.html
If you solve the problem please post. I'll do the same.
Cheers
Dave

Wow! Maxim ^6 is buggy isn't it?
One of the reasons I have thus far resisted upgrading is the amount of issues with the new version. Is there a way you can install MAxim 5 ?
I had nil issues with DL 5 and the SBIG.

Hi Dave,
I have asked the Maxim forum and received this feedback today. I did run as administrator in Windows 8 and do get the MaxPoint panel open but I do not know how to use it yet. Here is the link to the forum http://www.diffractionlimited.com/forum/index.php?threads/maxpoint-registry-locked-5-1.52/

Thanks Mark,
I tried reinstalling as administrator with no luck. I will have a go with dicking around with the registry tomorrow.
This seems a common issue you would think they would have it sorted by now. I'm not very impressed so far.

I've storted MaxPoint. I added the permissions to the registry line which seemed to do the trick.( as per your link)
I changed the fonts size from small to medium which fixed the control panel display issue.
