Help!. I have spent much of the day trying to have PhD2 guiding recognise the Orion Star Shoot Autoguider. I have meticulously followed Orions instructions re removing ALL traces of previous drivers and then installing the updated driver for Win 8/8.1 - no luck.
In desperation I deleted PhD2 entirely AND all the drivers and started from scratch - no luck. I am using Win 8.1. (Hate it! - rapidly approaching the point where I will scrub my hard disk entirely and start from scratch with Win 7)
Any insights / tips / magic spells even, would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar problems, it's an issue with the SSAG win8.x and usb3.
Might be worth a look through this thread (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=112400&highlight=ssag)

I've had similar, but different problems with Win8.1 and the SSAG.
I can the drivers to install and see the SSAG in the device list when I connect. When I power up PHD2 and try to connect it as a camera, it fails to connect the first time. On the second attempt it connects and works OK.
My issue it that The SkyXPro won't see the SSAG even though PHD2 can.
I am connecting via a USB2 port on a relatively new cheap HP Pavillion Laptop. I thought it may be a combination of Win8.1 and Norton AV.
My usual Laptop is at the doctors for a while - it runs win7 , hopefully all will work on it when I get it back.
Watching for solutions.

After another bout of deleting, disabling the USB 3 drivers turning all my USB ports into USB 2 and starting from scratch, I finally managed to get the SSAG talking to PHD2 by finding the "Unknown device" in the Device Manager tree and right clicking and then selecting the option that allowed me to find the device driver on the hard disk. Orion installs them in c:/programs(X86)/Orion/ssag_drivers_win8. Once I browsed to this location and clicked OK everything worked! The drivers installed and the SSAG and PHD talked to each other.
I cannot fathom why the drivers aren't installed in the correct location automatically by the installer program :confused2::screwy:
A lot of wasted hours :mad2:
Off to Bretti tomorrow.
