Hey,
I'm doing an update to the file that Peter (Peter_4059) put on here ages ago.
So far I have been Changing the names from the Common name to the 3 letter greek letter designation, 3 letter constellation abbreviation (exampe Alp Ori is Alpha Orion). Doing this because some names dont show up in different star chart programs so having it like this I think will be easier.
I also want to check the RA and Dec coordinates too. Im going to use the SIMBAD J2000 ICRS data.
However, it seems that in Alignmaster there is:
RA: 01h 37m 43.0s Dek: -57 14 12 Alp Eri (using first star as example)
but in SIMBAD
RA: 01 37 42.84548 Dec: -57 14 12.3101
What I see is the Alignmaster RA has been rounded UP to 43.0s from 42.84548s
Is it safe to assume that I could use the first decimal to make 42.8s in Alignmaster? and only round up the decimal instead. Not sure if adding a decimal to the DEC will stuff things up.
I really would like this alot more accurate. Any suggestions.
