Hi guys, after many attempts, I have finally got my Canon ix4000 Printer printing, however there seems to be a problem with the ink.

Now the ink cartridges for this machine are pretty old, some 4 years approximately, they, the ink tanks were opened at that time.

Whilst traveling around i actually stored this printer, after taking the ink tanks out and resealing them.

Could the ink just be to old, or is there something else happening here, maybe i need a new print head and cartridges or both.

Anyone with some knowledge please, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The first imaged was printed from my other printer and is fine, the second was printed from the ix 4000 which i have just resurrected after a long time in storage

Looks like some of the nozzles are clogged, and / or one of the ink tanks is dry. Your printer should have a diagnostic / cleaning function, which could be built into the printer, or could be run from your computer, that should be able to print a fine test pattern and clean the nozzles.

Thanks Julian, although I did not mention it earlier all the tests have been done, no clogged or out of ink cartridges, test pattern is fine, and print head alignment also fine, so i was thinking it was the old ink maybe.

Yep, the inks have expired. Time for a new set!
