Panning with Registax

I have used Registax 2 in the past not just to stack images but to create composite "pans". For example I create an avi with the ToUcam by keeping my scope still (ie. not tracking) and letting the moon pass by. Then I have an avi that has a strip of the moon. With Registax I can create an image from multiple frames as long as I have a common point in the images to do the alignment on.

Now with Registax 2 that resultant image will be a composite of all things visible in the images and so be longer than a single ToUcam image. With Registax 3 the result stacked image is kept the same size as a single image and so the extra areas covered in the pan are dropped out.

Does anybody know if there's an option with Registax 3 so that it can be made to behalf the same as Registax 2?

I think it would be something in the alignment tab, and the "Limit" button.

Depending on which alignment method you choose (gradient, classic etc), there's a box next to it where you set the percentage of frames to keep.

Set that to 100%, so it keeps all the frames through to the optimise tab, and then in the stacking tab, use the stackgraph to move the sliders all the way up and to the right, so it stacks all of the images in the avi.

Thanks Ice, but that's not it. I'm familiar with the quality setting and keeping or throwing away frames that don't make the quality cut. But even with keeping 100% of frames the way Registax 2 & 3 produce the final image is different.

I might shoot the Registax folks an email..

can't help, this is too teckie for me, BUT, I know Cors is a whiz, and a good guy when it comes to feedback, or questions, so give him a go.
Alternatively our own Bird had quite a bit of input into it I understand, so maybe try him (PM).

Solution found! On the stacking tab there's a check-box : Expand Image.
