Hi Everyone,
I was wondering whether anyone has used the program alignmaster with the Celestron CPC telescopes? If so is there any additional software or drivers that need to be downloaded for it to work.
Ii have not yet tried but thought I would find out more before looking it this further.
Regards,
Tom
Alignmaster uses the ASCOM drivers so you will need to install the Ascom platform and an Ascom Driver ( if one exists ) for your CPC mount.

See: http://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/ScopeDrivers.htm.
I have had mixed results with Align Master to date. Does any one have a CLEAR understanding of what the AM "Use sync commands" option really does?
The two (probably more) uses I have encountered for 'Sync" are, one -to synchronize between a planetarium program and a telescope, and the other the Sync feature available in my CPC1100 - the Align - Sync function.
I have no idea what the AM Sync option does or which equipment/setup it may apply to.
HELP!
Regards,
Patrick.

Hi Tom. I love Alignmaster. I use it all the time on my Meade LX 200. Very much like your scope. I have also made available on this site a list of re- named common stars that make it a little Easyer to use with common names you will find in most of the software we use. As mentioned you will just need to download ASCOM drivers that are free and install them into your computer. It is far quicker than drift alignment. I have mine done now it around 15 mins.
Well worth giving it a go. I am sure you will like it..

Patrick,
My suggestion is to turn that option off. I use Align Master with both my AZ-EQ 6 ( EQMOD ) and LX200R. My understanding is that when you centre on a star with that option on it becomes a sync point in the ASCOM telescope driver. I have noticed that this can cause problems with AM on subsequent refinements. I don't sync the ASCOM driver until the AM polar alignment is completed
I am also a big fan of AM. Get the updated Star list from Mardy.

Rob,
Thanks for that. I too like and have purchased AM. Also have Mardy’s list – thanks Mardy.
When an AM polar alignment is completed I assume that, put simply, AM communicates with and writes to the (in my case) CPC1100 handset memory, a celestial pole ‘golden point’ from which (e.g.) goto movements are calculated?

Patrick.
