I used Skyglobe from Klassm in the past and one needs emulation software to effectively run it on Windows XP from which Windows is eventually withdrawing its support. It had the ability to increment the screen in fixed amounts of time and this could be run continuously. In particular, it had a sidereal button (23 hours 56 minutes increment) so the sky could stay still and the planetary motion through the zodiac could be observed. I have tries Stellarium , Celestia and the apps Star Walk. Does anyone know of some software that has the features I mentioned?

Have you tried CdC (http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/start) (look for the current beta - much flasher than the release), C2A (http://astrosurf.com/c2a/english/) or Hallo Northern Sky (http://www.hnsky.org/software.htm#hnsky)? CdC has a siderial day step. I'd have to fire up the others to check.
