interval timer for canon 350d

I was talking to a friend whos handy with electronic control systems and he says i can make an interval timer from 2 **** smith electronic egg timers + a relay to turn the shutter on and off for set periods,. has any one tried anything like this as a cheap approach to timed multiple exposures,

Not sure if it's been done yet, but my old, ('96), JVC video, (VHS-C tape), recorder has one. It was an optional extra that I bought & can make multiple timed exposures indefinitely or 'stop animation'.
I used it to take 1 sec exposures at 30 sec intervals of the total lunar eclipse back in '2000'. Managed to get 3 hrs out of an externally connected 7 A/H battery before it died.
They should be avail for these new fangled cameras. Might cost a few quid tho!

What was it now? Mmmmm, 'Ripley's, Believe It or Not'. Well at our ob night tonight, Warren showed up with just the unit you are talking about.
For Canon 30D, 20D, 10D & I think he said the 350D but not the Dxxx???? not sure. But the point is, there is one avail. It is a nice looking unit too. Just plug it into your camera n set the intervals for exposures n darks etc etc etc, n walk away. The model # is TC-80N3, about 200 odd bucks.
I think the 'special plug' only fits some Canons but you can change the plug to fit yours if nec, as it's just a multiplex output thru a standard 3.5 mm stereo plug.

the TC-80N3 is built for the digital eos cameras accept 350D and 300D, but if you change the plug into a 2.5mm stereo plug correctly, it will work with the 350D/300D,

im sure you could probly find a walkthrough somewhere on the net, or im sure you could buy it from haps cables or hutech.
