Hi Everyone

Having missed out on imaging the horse and flame last year I looked forward to imaging it this season. I did get some shots last season but it was already March and the horsey was getting low in the sky. I also hadn't purchased my LP filter at the time so the few test shots were mostly a white wash anyway.

Would have liked more data this season but the Moon, clouds and Christmas lights cut down my imaging time. ... And what do you know?? Its new moon weekend and its raining :rain:

This is about 1.5 hours , 37 x 2 minute subs for the field and 24 x 30 sec subs for the stars, combined using Pixinsights HDR comp tool. So really only 74 minutes.

Taken on 1/2/14 with the Canon 60Da on C11 Edge HD with Hyperstar lens. F2, ISO 800 with IDAS LPS filter. Processed in Pixinsight.

I've linked two larger images. The original and another, a bit brighter with the colour pushed up a touch. As usual I couldn't make a decision

New adjusted white balance large (http://astrob.in/full/80768/C/)

Brighter Large***original WB*** (http://astrob.in/full/80768/B/)

Thanks for looking

impressive images - Looks like you have the Hyperstar system under control, which is no mean feat at that fNo.

Good images Rod!

I like the brighter version, nice detail coming through on the curtain.
Look's like you have a powerful setup with the hyperstar, looking forward to more images.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Louie, Ross and Justin , I appreciated the support

Cheers Ray, :) Yeah shooting with the Hyperstar is enjoyable. Like most things it gets easier to handle with experience.

I haven't been able to leave this one alone. For some reason with my images, Pixinsights colour calibration tool creates a brownish white balance? I've gone back and adjusted the channel curves to "de-brown"and have sharpened the nebula detail with Atrous Wavelet Transform tool.

I have replaced the original image with this new repo. I'm quite happy with the balance now.

Thanks Mike :)

Yes I was quite happy with the hyperstar collimation this time. I have to tweak it every time I set up  But, that's just the nature of the beast.

I actually think the 60Da has some sensor tilt, obviously its more evident when imaging at 1960mm.

Hmm  interesting, I might up load a brighter version of the new WB image to Astrobin

Thanks for the feedback.
