Hi , I am wondering how do you determin the slop angles for foam domes when joining toegther.
It is just trail an error or is there some sort of calculation. I have not been able to see any infomration as yet.

Malcolm,
Try this online calculator, just choose the layout.

Hi Malcolm,
I built a 3.6 metre diameter 3V geodesic dome using this link for the dimensions: http://www.desertdomes.com/domecalc.html
I can't recall where I found the joining angle, but I used a nominal 11 degrees. I reckon that trial and error would be the easiest way to get the foam cut angle correct. A smaller diameter dome would need a larger angle between the joining faces, and vice versa.

Thank All, looking at all the infomration 11 degrees is the right angle. It is a good starting point at least. Thanks Neil for your link, this is the only one I dont have
I dont have a lot of time to commit so this will run the slow mo project.
Cheers

If you haven't started yet, you might try this:

Angles are easy and you can make it 5/8 quite easily. Dome slit is a lot less complicated as well.

Thanks Rom,
I will keep that in mind, I start Uni next week and the buil is too detailed, so i have to go for an easier design in the interim now.
Spending more time on Uni prep now than anything else.
Thanks for the info.
