Hi all,

I use a Philips900NC with my Win7 664-bit Laptop when guiding, but to do this I have to turn off the driver signature check for it to work. For the first time lastnight I hooked up my Canon 1100D with the driver signature disabled and it would not connect, the webcam works fine. I am now thinking that if the 900NC wont work with the canon, I might have to look at upgrading to either a QHY5 or ASI120mm. both of which I cannot really afford atm (bought a new scope and other things)

Does anyone know if there would be a work around?

Hi Andrew,

Are you using a powered USB hub?
What's the length of your cable run?

The problem seems similar to when I first set up my scope and camera, had all sorts of problems until I got the powered hub.

Cheers,

Justin.

Yes I do use a powered hub, and cable length is only about 3m from scope to computer. Mind you the hub is an older one, so not 100% it's working properly, might only be a USB 1.0 hub too... Will be upgrading once the bank balance recovers a little from my recent purchase :) edit: this is the hub... looks like a USB 1.1 http://www.swann.com/webfiles/download/370sw111ezh_ezyhub.pdf

I never had a problem with the 400D doing it this way.

Yep, reckon that's the problem.
Sometimes for some unknown reason my camera's and even mount connect at USB 1 speed and which makes it all work very slow and prone to crashing.
No problem at USB 2 with USB 2 powered hub.

Cheers,

Justin.

Just realised I had the Camera going straight into a USB2.0 port on my laptop, not through the Hub, I will still get the hub and hope that it may solve the issue.

Just tried all the USB cables through the Hub and connected the Hub to the USB 2 port on my laptop, it's all working together now.. :) Thanks Justin for the push in the right direction. Now I have to charge my batteries, since they went flat while I was testing.

Glad you got it sorted!

Hopefully the cloud will disappear and allow some imaging.

Cheers,

Justin.

Not looking hopeful at this stage, all clouded out atm.
