Hello, ive recently built a permenant pier for my EQ6 mount...plan is to do a roll off roof shed in the future.
My concern in atm i cover it with a plastic tarp and a canvas tarp over that...will the summer heat we have in WA damage the mount ie electrics in anyway..i would really prefer not to have to remove it when not in use...thanks Noel.
Noel fully covered it should be fine, however i would put the canvas first and then the plastic trap second.
Plastic tarps can and do cause condensation under hot and cold conditions, that is just IMHO.

Simple suggestion, if you use two covers and separate them with an air gap the mount will be protected from radiant heat gain. However you will still get heat gain up to the ambient air temperature the mount should be able to handle this.

I bought a scope cover several years ago; it is made by telegizmo, which you can find on OPT. Get that, it will last for years and years (get the 365 version) and protect the mount. Highly recommend one. The one I have has been outside covering a mount for solar work at home for 3 years. No sign of any damage yet.

Thanks Leon...i guess a good sized bag of desiccant would help with any danger of moisture as well..

I second Paul's recommendation, the telegizmo cover is well worth the investment and peace of mind.
Great review here:
