Hi guys,

I have just purchased a new laptop with Windows 8.

I have installed the Lodestar software, but it appears that the software cannot now find the camera.

The red light on the camera comes on, the computer gives a chime saying that it knows something has been connected, but the software cannot find the camera.

Anyone else using Lodestar with Windows 8 that can offer some advice??

I assume Win8 is similar to Win7 - you may need to install the software as "administator" ????

John, I had similar problems with Win8 and the SSAG (see this thread) (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=112400&highlight=vid).

In my case the issue was the way Win8 was identifying the device and reporting an incorrect VID/PID.

I found that installing the SSAG on a USB2 port (luckily my laptop had one USB2 port) AND a clean OS install was the only way I could get the driver loaded, as once the device had been incorrectly identified, no amount of driver removal, inf file manipulation or registry massaging could fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

It was all about getting the 64 bit drivers installed from the Starlight Xpress web site.

Clear skies to all.
