Ah yes, the 8" GSO Dob is back at $469 min. bid. I emailed the seller last week to tell them they'll have to lower their expectation if they really want to sell it, because the scope costs less new. Got no reply. :whistle:

Yes, I saw that one too. I asked whether the seller bought it at Andrew's and is now selling for a profit. I said nothing else. No answer either.

Although I did get GSO 9 and 25 mm eyepieces + moon filter for only $50 (with postage IIRC) from this seller a few months ago. They were as new condition so I don't really care whether they were used or not.
The GSO 25 mm looked huge next to my 0.965" plastic eyepieces. Now it looks little next to my 2" 30 mm superview :)

They still haven't changed their ad, but I did get some info out of them.

ya know, looking at bugs like that would be fun.... but there are better ways.

These are only 76mm, and there are way too many of them (and the 60mm refractors) on ebay, generally all sold by just one or two sellers. They really P me off because they flood the telescope section with their junk, and make it much more difficult to spot real scopes/gear. Best way to look at the scope section is by doing an advanced search for nothing and excluding the leeches from the search results.

Well I'd like to find an uncharted constellation. I could finally get my name in lights in the sky. It could be called "The Pondering 1"

By the look of the quality of it I'm surprised they didn't offer one of those great solar filters to go with the moon filter.

No wonder it so hard to get people more involved in astronomy when this type of garbage is continually flogged off as a "professional" sorry "semi-professional" scope. It would be really disheartening for anyone who tried to use this for anything except land fill. It wouldn't even be strong enough to use as a trellis to grow a climber up.

$0.99?? Try around $100 (with the overcharged postage)! People are so incredibly gullible! The way these so-called telescopes are moving thru ebay, you'd think there'd be one in every household by now! I'd really like to know, Who are these people buying all this junk?

Hey there is a guy advertising a Meade ETX 125 scope with a starting bid of $1800 and you can buy them new from bintel for $1640. I don't think he will get many takers. Der, I can buy this scope for more than I can buy it new.

Trouble with this Paul is that because its on eBay some poor sucker will think they are getting a good deal. We know its a crap deal but most people don't.

I don't think the Meade will sell Rob. $1800 is a lot of money for most people. Cheap impulse-buy junk scopes is where the market is.
