View Full Version here: : IPad help question please, again sorry
Hi Guys,
It seems Alice has locked herself out of her Ipad once again, and has no idea how to fix it, I don't use any Apple stuff so I am not much help.
When she tries to access our network and taps on the one we are using it comes up with a little lock symbol.
Could someone please suggest a quick fix. :)

Hi Leon, the lock symbol means your network has security enabled and when you tap it it should ask for a password?
If so the password it asks for is the password for your wifi.
Not sure if that helps.
Thanks Hugh, yea mate you are probably right, but she (Alice) has so many passwords she has no idea what it is.
Anyway we will get to the bottom of it somehow, thanks again
Leon
Hi Guys,
I have done a lot of Goggling and have read many answers to my question, however we are still no further advanced.
From what i can gather from Alice is that she has never had to use a password to use her I pad.
When we open the I pad it asks us to tap on our network, which we do, it has a lock symbol, and will not open, yet it dose not ask for a password to proceed.
Could the unit be damaged in any other way, thank you in anticipation .

Can you do normal browsing of apps on the iPad? It sounds like an indication that you have security on your wifi network.
Thanks Paul, yes, all the Apps work fine, as you said it is probably an issue with our network, however that is working fine as we are using two other computers as we speak, no problem, just the Ipad is locked.

You might need to go into the wireless connection's settings and reset it.
Press the blue/white > arrow next to the name of your network and then down the bottom, press reset. I'm not on a wireless connection at the moment so can't check the exact steps.

Leon it's you home wifi network that has a password. Your other devices are still working as they remember the password. For some reason your Wife's ipad has forgotten it. Not sur who you Internet provider is, but most of the like Telstra and aapt etc use thier own generic password if they supplied you with the modem as part of your Internet package.
If this is the case you should have some paperwork that was supplied with your modem that will tell you the wiFi password.
On some modems the WFi password is printed on the bottom of the modem. In most cases it's number or numbers and letters..
Hope this helps you find your password to enable your wife to connect her Ipad
Regards
Martin
Ah now we are getting somewhere, thank you very much.
Leon
Well with all your help we got it fired up and running, thank you.
As Martin suggested it was the security number on the modem that needed to be entered, i was looking for a password so to speak.
I have written a note for Alice so she can remember the procedure
I knew you guys would sort it out for us.
Thanks again
Leon
