Cooling a Web Cam

Many years ago when film was being used more extensively in astrophotography, film was often kept in a freezer or cooled using a dry ice chamber (Jack Newton dry ice camera?)

I know people may laugh at this thought, it's a "silly" question, but I am going to ask it anyhow, just wondering if anyone has stuck their web cam or CCD camera in the freezer before use and if they found that this reduced thermal noise etc? could be this a quick and dirty way of reducing noise? (or damaging a camera!!!???)

(By the way I am happy to conduct this experiment on YOUR web cam camera, so you are welcome to send it to me I'll let you know how it goes! ie. I'm not keen to try it on my new SPC900!)

p.s. I know that people make a peltier fan mod for web cams

Yes, been there done that with the 840K. The camera warms up that quick that by the time your ready to capture, it's already at operating temp.

I assume if you're looking to cool the webcam, its already moded to SC1; go for the peltier solution cheap and very effective. jacar have all the bits including a sexy little CPU fan; total cost about $30.
