Hi, Im about to throw my computer out a window. I have tried stacking my images twice already, DSS goes through all its processes and then at the end it comes up with the RGB bars but doesn't give me an image. It saves an Autosave.tif file but I cannot open it for what ever reason. I can usually do this without any problems, but for some reason DSS has decided it no longer likes me. Help would be extremely appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jake

I have the same problem. DSS doesn't like me either. Had 150 images to stack and all I get is colored bars diagonally across the screen.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still no go.
Gave up in the end still have 150 images to stack

Which version of DSS you guys are talking about?
I am using beta (available via yahoo group (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DeepSkyStacker/)) and no issues at all.

Also, the best place to ask for help is DSS group (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DeepSkyStacker/)
You can directly contact authors of the software.

I will try the beta download, hopefully that will fix the issues. I signed up to the Yahoo! group yesterday as well, if the beta doesn't work I will have to ask them about it!

Thanks for the help.

Hmm..
not sure what that means.
Did you ever have the output image?

You can try and load the autosave into DSS after starting it from fresh (maybe you have memory issue?) and after it's displayed, you are supposed to "save as" 16 bit *.tiff format, for further processing (in DPP, for example, if you have Canon camera).

Also, it is possible to load autosave into PS (some people claim this approach is more close to reality (less data loss), which I personally doubt it is the case)

Try changing the settings to only stack using average or median for the lights.......

I tried kappa sigma once and another option which I think was auto adaptive weighted average and got a white screen and no image.

Also, check that each image is visible in the image list first by clicking on it and making sure it is visible in the top display window.

Stack only a few images first, once you change the settings and then see if you get an output (to cut down the wait time) and then stack the lot once you have the settings right.

I always save my settings once I have them the way I like them so I can easily return to these settings on a different subject later on.

I use the 3.3.3 beta 47 version.

Cheers

Ive tried everyones suggestions and still nothing. I even downloaded DSS onto another computer and tried stacking the images on that computer but it did the same thing, no output image, and when i click save file it says there is no picture to save. It creates an autosave.tiff file each time but when i try to open it it tells me that its missing or corrupted or something like that. Ive tried different settings and none seem to work. I have been able to stack before using my camera (nikon D3100) and it has worked fine, but now it seems determine to fail each time!

HELP ME!

Was going to say, the only time I have seen this is when it was trying to save to a location that did not exist anymore.. ie.. removable external HDD. Glad you got it sorted..
