Hi all,

Clear skies in Brisbane yesterday, so I decided to head up Mt Coot-tha and catch the Moonrise at about 5pm. Was lucky to catch a QantasLink Dash-8 passing in front of the Moon as well :).

The first image shows the Moon and Belt of Venus above the St Lucia reach of the Brisbane River.

I had the camera on burst mode for the plane transit. The second image is a single shot, and the last is a combination of 6 frames.

All shot with the 50D and 70-200 f/4L.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

:) I bet the heart raced a little bit when you saw that plane heading towards the moon. :)

Thanks JJJ and Dennis!

Yes JJJ, there's always a bit of excitement when you look at the angle of approach and realize that it might be a transit! It was complicated slightly by a couple of Chinese newlyweds trying to push in next to my tripod for a wedding photo, but I managed to keep them away until after the critical moment ...

Cheers,
Stephen

Extreme tail gating! Reminds me of the drive to the Gold Coast!

Top Stuff Chris, very effective. Looks like a popular route, the Brisy air traffic controller sure is doing a top job of queuing, super efficient.

Thanks for the comments Trevor, Carlos and Mike! Shame I didn't have a 400mm lens for the plane transit...

Cheers,
Stephen
