W8 and program compatibility

My computer appears to have bits failing and I'm not sure wether to upgrade it or not. The reason for my reluctance is driver issues and compatibility with Windows8. This problem rears its head with the release of every new OS and it would be nice to know which programs generally used work with W8 and if a work around is needed, what is that procEdure.
So if any W8 users can assist I'd be appreciative.

I've only just upgraded and I haven't tried everything but so far everything I've tried has worked. Programs I've tried are: Lightroom, Adobe CS, BackyardEOS, Stellarium and the usual browsers, music players, etc. Next will be PHD but from what I've read it should work fine.
